Back to normal...whatever that is!

Sew Happy!!!!!
We have the electric power back so all is well in my world.

Mind you, I didn't mind being without power but with the wedding a few days away and the family all coming in to town starting tomorrow...it is best to have electricity!

I did sew this little quilt on Saturday night.  It is from a challenge on the small quilt forum I belong to.  Pulled a few of my Civil War reproduction fabrics from the stash for this.

I started cutting the fabrics around 9pm Saturday and it was pieced, quilted and had the binding sewn to the front by 11:30pm.  It sure went together fast.

After we lost power on Sunday I sat by the front door and hand stitched the binding to the back.

It is really cute and only 10"x11"!

Anyway, I sewed the bindings on a few smaller pieces the past few days and now...

THE POWER IS BACK ON!
Yippee!!! I am so relieved!!!

BB quilt top done!

Good Monday Morning!

My Sunday was not as productive as I had hoped it would be. :(

My son and his fiance were here until this morning so they were around all day yesterday.

That didn't leave me as much time to get the sewing done on the two quilts.

Don't get me wrong...I enjoy having the kids around ~ just not during a deadline!

Well, the piecing is complete on the Baseball Quilt for my wonderful brother.

It really is a nice quilt and the photos are not (I must be the worst photographer...or I have the worst assistants...LOL).  My poor husband tried to hold it up for me..."higher dear, wider dear"...well he was stretched as far as he could go...

...or at least that's what he admitted to!

Sew I moved to the next best thing...the floor...

...needs to be pressed and then quilted...by Saturday!  YIKES!

I will get back to things after work ~ and I do have Thursday and Friday off this week so in between manicure, dentist and dress fitting for the wedding (2 weeks away) I will hopefully complete the two quilts by this weekend.  They need to be layered, basted, quilted and bound!
NO SLEEP ALLOWED!!! LOL

It's Raining, It's Pouring...Quilts that is...

Actually ~ it really is raining...and raining...and raining!  It really is pouring but I do think we need the rain.  It has not rained in over a week ~ it is a good rain!

It also makes for a great day to sew!
And yes, sew I must!

I have to finish up the top for my nephew's wedding quilt (shower is August 28th).

The borders are in the works and it is looking very nice if I say sew myself!

BUT NOW ~ there is another special event for a very special person that I love dearly!

Someone is turning the BIG 50 and is a huge baseball fan!
Party is August 27th!!! YIKES!!!

Last night I around 9pm I pulled some fabrics from stash and came up with this...

I am leaning towards no sash...but must decide quickly!

Sew, you see, it really is pouring quilts in my sewing room!

Now...

HI HO, HI HO, IT'S OFF TO SEW I GO!

Do you have a rug for your mug...

...I do!

Yup, that's right, I made one today.

Here she is...

I designed it as a beginner embroidery project.

The size is 7"x10".

Here she is with my favorite mug...

Now it's time to get back to the sewing machine...sew...sew...sew much to do!

I had sew much fun making that mug rug that I popped on the embroidery unit again, stitched another design, pulled out some holiday fabrics and made a candle mat (or a square holiday mug rug!)!

Hey, did I mention...

...sew excited because I purchased a Singer Featherweight!!!

Yup, that's right, I finally have one.  I have wanted one for the longest time and the opportunity just knocked and I took it!
She is lovely and today she had her first project...an easy one at that...a 10 minute runner!


Isn't she a beauty!

Sewing on her was such a pleasure...I could smell the ageless beauty working her magic.

And the fabric came right from my stash of homespun fabrics which are stored in my cedar closet...sew they had that wonderful cedar scent!
Oh, what a glorious day!

Now I am working on a sample for a class.  It's a table topper that I designed for the fall season.

Can't wait to show you but for now it's back to the sewing machine for me.

Shower and other stuff...

The Wedding Shower was on Saturday and we had a great time!
The bride-to-be was very surprised!

And the quilt was a huge hit!!!

And yesterday was a very productive day...

Worked on the quilt top for my nephew's wedding shower.

The neutrals...

All the blocks are sewn and now they need to be assembled.

I am going to add a navy blue border (heard they painted their bedroom navy).

This one is moving along quickly and that's a good thing because the shower is August 28th!
