OFF TO MARYLAND...:)!

Here it is Sunday again and this time I am heading to my daughter's house for a few days. My husband will take me out to brunch and then off to the airport! I hope the threat of rain doesn't delay the flight :)!

I will miss my husband but I'll be back on Thursday and he enjoys what he calls "peace and quiet"! Can you imagine that; he thinks I am noisy and talkative...WHAT?!?!

I will also miss my sewing machine but I know that my daughter will have her machine set up and ready to roll...it always is...with a few projects lined up too!

Taking along some hand sewing and the fish. Quilted him but he needs to have the binding added...

She asks me about this every day...are you bring the fish??? YES I AM!!!

He is a little too funky for me. It was just a practice piece but hey, she loves it! I have some sea shell buttons to hand sew on still.

I am also taking along a couple of new t-shirts I purchased. They washed up nicely and so I want to sew some beads and/or buttons around the neckline. I think I will do a white blanket stitch around the neck of the navy one. Just to add some interest to them. They were inexpensive on sale and so I thought I might alter them a bit.

I'm all packed and cannot wait to see my little grandson!
Have a great week!

BE MERRY

I am really excited because the first month of my Block of the Month quilt starts tomorrow at the store.

The quilt is called "Be Merry" and it is from Bits and Pieces. Here is a photo of the top. I have not done any of the applique or the embellishments yet.
The wind was blowing (believe it or not) so it looks a little ruffled. But the breeze did feel good - it is hot today!

We are starting with Block 6 patterns in the first month and counting down to Block 1. Should be complete by November. The first set of block for the first month are called "Shining Stars". This is the "Christmas Star" that is part of the group of stars. There are two other smaller 8" star blocks also but they came out to blurry so I didn't post the photos of them.

I hope the class goes well and all the quilters have as much fun doing this quilt as I have.
Have a great weekend!

It's Sunday...

I do look forward to Sunday, it is the 'weekend' for me since I work on a couple of Saturdays per month. It is a lovely day and it is Father's Day. I hope my husband enjoys the day, I know that I will because he is going to wash my car! That's what he said he wanted to do today when I asked him what he wanted...hey, go for it!

We will go out for breakfast around 11am (after he gets home from teaching his Karate classes) and then I will let him take control of the day. He already knows I have some sewing to do.

Oh yes, sewing...I didn't get anymore done on my mini-tumbler other than choosing a border fabric. Still deciding how I want to quilt it.

I did pick out fabric for the large tumbler quilt I need to make this summer. It is from my stash (yippee!).

Planned and ready to roll. This will be for my niece who is graduating from high school and heading off to college. So it's a graduation/birthday gift! She will love it! I will have to make her a pillow too, like the one I made for my other niece (the Christina pillow).

This week was spent working on a project for work...almost complete! Last night I did pull out an old project that I was showing my daughter when she visited and she wants it for my grandson's room.

I had some hand stitching to do and beading to add and it needs to be finished this week so I can bring it with me next week when I visit them.
I call it The Fish!

 Cute and funky!

She loved it. So now I need to add border and backing so it can be hung.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day!

I FOUND IT!

So, I started this BLOG at the end of 2009 (December 31 to be exact) and was able to post a couple of times but then I had a really hard time finding it again to post.  I was really bothered by this and was encouraged by a friend to BLOG again.  Well, I started another blog on live.com and have been posting for a few weeks there.  Wouldn't you know that right after I started that blog I stumpled on my blogspot.  Funny how that works.  So...here I am!  Back again.
I think I will keep the two blogs going for a while to see which one I like better.

I was thinking today about the ELIQG show that was on June 5 & 6th and the folks that entered their quilts in the show.  Maybe I will do one for next year but I wouldn't want to stress over it.  I think quilting should be FUN!  Yup, fun!  I do not follow perfection rules at all.  While I stress accuracy and try to do my best I just know I would never win a ribbon.

I started a fun mini quilt the other day...The Tumbler.  It is all pieced and ready to quilt.  And, it is not perfect!  This is my first tumble quilt.  I used a bunch of Civil War repro fabrics I had on hand.
I am planning to make a large tumbler quilt so this is practice!  While at the quilt show I purchased a large tumbler template that I had been wanting for a long time.
That's all for now.  Go visit my other blog at http://americanaqueen.spaces.live.com/ for more photos and what's been going on lately in my world!
